this is my favourite hiking drink, the one i go to sleep excited to have in the morning
it’s just like a bounty bar with a little kick of coffee to get you up and out of your tent on a cold, cold morning
this recipe scales up brilliantly and i will pack at least two serves per day on the trail
makes four serves
ingredients
at home
4 tsp cocoa powder
4 tsp caster sugar
4 tsp coconut milk powder
8 tsp instant coffee powder
on the trail
100mL boiling water (per serve)
method
add everything to an airtight container and shake well to combine
on the trail
boil 100mL of water per serving (i.e. 200mL for two people)
add 2 generous spoons of the mixture to each mug and top with boiling water
stir thoroughly and let sit for a few minutes before tucking in

Just made my own version using Smitten Kitchen’s decadent hot chocolate mix, coconut milk powder and UCC blend no 117. Ratio was 2:2:1 - yummmm!
